The District has received an application to increase the limit of cremations from Lakeside Colonial Chapel in Marysville, CA. The limit would increase from no more than 500 per year to no more than 1,000 per year.
This permit application triggers a public notice due to the location of the facility within a 1,000 feet of a K-12 school. This notice was sent to the schools for distribution to parents/guardians of children attending the school. The permit application was also deemed a project under the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA). The District prepared an Initial Study and determined the environmental impacts were able to be mitigated to less than significant with the incorporation of mitigation measures. The District is holding a public meeting to present information and receive public comments on the permit application, the Mitigated Negative Declaration and the Health Risk Assessment Report on Tuesday, February 13, 2024. The public meeting will be held at 5 pm at the City of Marysville Council Chambers, 526 C Street, Marysville.
