OTHER GRANT PROGRAMS ● Non-Toxic Dry Cleaning Incentive Program Details Printable brochure Application form Deadline: May 5, 2006 ● Vehicle Retirement Returns at $1,000 On March 16, 2005, Governor Schwarzenegger announced the reinstatement of the Bureau of Automotive Repair's (BAR) vehicle retirement portion of its Consumer Assistance Program (CAP). Consumers with vehicles that fail their biennial smog check can opt to sell their high-polluting vehicle to BAR and the vehicle will be crushed. Eligible motorists that apply and are approved must drive their vehicle to one of 33 auto dismantler sites located across the state. The vehicle owner will receive a check on the spot for $1,000 if the vehicle passes a visual and functional inspection. Consumers who choose to keep their vehicle and need financial help passing their smog check may be eligible for up to $500 in emission related repairs at one of almost 600 Gold Shield stations. For more information, visit http://www.smogcheck.ca.gov, or call the Department of Consumer Affairs' toll free number at (800) 952-5210. ● Underground Storage Tank The State Water Resources Control Board, Division of Financial Assistance offers direct grants and loans for replacement or repair of underground storage tanks (RUST). The program helps owners and operators of small independent underground storage tanks comply with the new requirements mandated by Senate Bill 989. Upgrading Underground Storage Tank (Application form) Grant Amount: ranges from $3,000 to $50,000 Eligibility: Retail gasoline sales must not exceed 900,000 gallons annually. Eligible Expense: - Costs to upgrade containment sumps, double walled piping, dispensers; under-dispenser containment boxes/pans, electronic monitoring system and enhance vapor recovery system. - No applicant/entity is eligible to receive more than $50,000 in Grant funds from this program. Installing Underground Storage Tank (Application form) Grant Amount: up to $30,000 Eligibility: Grant funds are available to Small Businesses for underground storage tanks (USTs) installed after July 1, 2004. (Grant program AB 2955) A grant may be issued before the installation of the tank(s), or within 12 months after the tank has been installed Eligible Expense: - Leak Detection equipment costs required to maintain the UST’s interstitial space. - Cost associated with requirements to test the UST during and after installation to demonstrate that it is product tight.
