    FEATHER RIVER AQMD

     NEWS RELEASE

MARYSVILLE – The Feather River Air Quality Management District is pleased to announce the appointment of David A. Valler, Jr. to the position of Air Pollution Control Officer for the Feather River Air Quality Management District (AQMD).  He is currently the Principal Air Quality Engineer with the Feather River AQMD.  Valler is replacing Steve Speckert, who is moving to Montana.

Valler, 47, is a graduate of California State University, Sacramento with a BS in Mechanical Engineering, and Pennsylvania State University with a MS in Meteorology.  Valler previously served in the United States Air Force, originally as an enlisted Law Enforcement Specialist and subsequently earned his commission as an Air Force Meteorologist. Valler retired from Beale AFB in 1997 as the Senior Meteorologist in charge of all weather operations on Beale AFB for the 9th Reconnaissance Wing.  He, his wife Katy, and their children reside in Yuba City.

The Feather River AQMD is a bi-county District that was formed in 1991 to administer local, state, and federal air quality management programs for Yuba and Sutter Counties.   As the new APCO at Feather River AQMD, Valler will recruit new personnel for vacant positions, and work with existing staff to develop a work program for the district’s many air quality responsibilities.

Valler said that he looks forward to working with the district’s board of directors to promote and improve the air quality in Yuba and Sutter Counties.
